Just a 40 minute drive north of Napier, you'll discover Stingray Bay, a small, rocky bay located just north of Tangoio Beach. The bay itself offers hollow and fast barrel waves that are ideal for keen surfers. The waves are recommended for advanced to expert surfers only, but if riding waves isn't quite your thing, you'll be guaranteed some enjoyment watching locals master these waves.
Stingray Bay is known to locals as having one of the longest waves around Napier, but if you are feeling brave avoid the left side of the bay where you are likely to encounter hidden rocks.
